The courage to dare

Susan David, in her book Emotional Agility, writes that “courage is not the absence of fear, it is fear walking”.

When we think of courageous acts, our mind immediately jumps to heroic acts of the lonely brave fighter.

However, while bravery is the ability to confront something dangerous without any fear, courage is the ability to confront something difficult or dangerous despite the fear.

The latter can be improved; we teach a model that can be applied in any situation we face, when we are blocked by fear.
